Depression, Recession and life goes on...

I feel it is like a dreadful disease “DEPRESSION”, the word means a lot, especially at such times when the world is going through the Global Recession and many people have lost there jobs and then the terror attacks in Mumbai, India.

One gets really depressed by looking at the current situation. By watching all the News Channel and the Newspapers warning the masses that the “Worst is still to come“. I read it all the time that there are so many jobs gets axed on a daily basis and getting laid off is the most dreadful thing to happen. It takes a lot of time for an individual to get out of the feeling that he/she have been laid off. Earlier on I used to listen to all this too, but understood how one feels when this happened to me and my fellow colleagues a few months back and thus thought of sharing my feelings.

The first thing that I noticed was the change in behavior and attitude of your “so called friends” and then the tone of the recruitment agencies also change that too overnight. Once they get to know that you are out of job or you have been recently laid off things take a U turn. Believe me this feeling is something which cannot be expressed in words but it is like you get preoccupied thinking about “What’s Next?”, as if you are been haunted and if one does not engage him/her self into any activity then the dreadful disease takes over...

I would like all of you to share your feelings and give your valuable feedback on the same.

Well to be precise.. its what we call life and all this is part and parcel of it. Enjoy the tough time as someone wise once said ” We are continually faced by Great Opportunities brilliantly disguised as Insoluble Problems”.

Hi Amit,
You are right in saying that ”all this is a part and parcel of life” but it is easier said then done. The feeling is so terrible that one’s mind starts wandering, as they say ”An Ideal Mind is Devil’s Workshop”.

Anant,

Try laughter Yoga. If attitude can change Physiological realities, then changing physical realities can alter the attitude.

It is important to know that economy is cyclical.
