This is what happens when the system let go the Criminal or the people who think that they are next to God. Thus it has encouraged The Sri Ram Sena to now try and disrupt and cause maximum damage to the society on Valentine’s Day on the pretext of saving the community and the culture.

Pramod Mutalik, the group’s founder said “Valentine’s Day is definitely not Indian culture. We will not allow celebration of that day in any form,”.

I want to ask them which culture are they talking about? The Hindu culture which says that kāma is regarded as one of the four goals of life. Kama-deva is the personification of this, a god equivalent to the Greek Eros and the Roman Cupid.

Kama-rupa is a subtle body or aura composed of desire. Correct me if I am wrong but Modern Valentine symbols include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid.

Now if we relate both these definitions, my common sense says that we are not doing anything which is wrong or which is demeaning the culture. It is just that the names have changed but the essence of the day remains to be same whether it be in India or in Western countries, so why do these organisations or people who think that it is not our culture to celebrate Valentine’s day make so much fuss about it?

My answer is they are simply ignorant or have a mental block or want to impose there value system on us. What do you folks have to say on this?

You are right and it is for the people of Mangalore to tackle it if the govt. does not take any firm action before 14th Feb.

You must be kidding Vijay! How can the govt. take any action. They can’t risk their vote bank, after all, for Valentine’s Day celebration.

Then I think Sanwali that WE would have to take this up and curb it otherwise it will be too late.
